Cool- I'm Chair of the Board (mainly because Dan and Sandy didn't want to be). Let's discuss over lunch soon. Give me some dates.

Sorry to miss you last night. Eric said we just missed each other. Jim Mowrer seems like a solid guy. I know I am getting old when I see young guys like Jim running for Congress.

I just got this email from WFP which reminded me of our conversation. I know you and Dan Glickman are involved in World Food Program USA board. I would like to figure out how to get involved. I was Dan’s Deputy Chief of Staff at USDA and then Deputy Administrator at the Foreign Agricultural Service which oversaw many of these programs so I have a background in the area.

Pls let me know your thoughts.

Best Patrick

Patrick,

Your support of World Food Program USA has been crucial. We couldn’t do any of the life-changing work without your donations. Thank you!

Today, we want to update you on how some of the events you may have heard about lately in the news are impacting the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP)’s hunger relief. Last year, we wrote to you about a crisis in Syria and the natural disaster in the Philippines.

Now WFP, the world’s largest hunger relief agency, is facing two additional emergencies in South Sudan and the Central African Republic. This is all while WFP continues its work helping Filipino and Syrian families piece their lives back together.

WFP has never needed to respond to four emergencies at once and these “quadruple crises” are draining resources and stretching WFP’s capacity to meet growing needs. You can visit our Hunger Hotspots<http://fwfp.convio.net/site/R?i=xYetHQ65oTGxpjisHm8YtA> to get the latest updates and what WFP is doing to help.

WFP is on the ground 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, reaching more than 97 million people in 80 countries. On any given day, an average of 50 planes, 30 ships and 5,000 trucks are delivering WFP assistance to thousands of communities across the world struggling with poverty and famine.

WFP is feeding people who have lost everything when the world’s gaze has turned elsewhere. It all starts with food. Food has the power to help dissolve conflicts, keep kids in school, and help infants grow strong. That’s why global hunger relief is so important.

We will not relent in our efforts to provide food to hungry people and we greatly appreciate your support and commitment. We will keep you updated of the evolving circumstances. To learn more, visit www.wfpusa.org/crisis<http://fwfp.convio.net/site/R?i=YK7cvTBi8Pvlum0iLjfnrA>.

Sincerely,

World Food Program USA
