Hunter - How's it going? We are finally having our first public meeting on the Quadrennial Energy Review on April 11 at the Congressional Visitor Center if you are interested. The details are below: *From:* Richards, John *Sent:* Thursday, April 03, 2014 3:29 PM *To:* Richards, John *Subject:* Quadrennial Energy Review Formal Stakeholder Meeting, April 11th, Congressional Visitors Center Thank you for your interest in the Quadrennial Energy Review (QER), which was established by the President earlier this year (you can read the Presidential Memorandum establishing the QER here<http://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/2014/01/09/presidential-memorandum-establishing-quadrennial-energy-review>). On behalf of Melanie Kenderdine, the Director of the Office of Energy Policy and Systems Analysis (EPSA) in DOE, and Karen Wayland, EPSA's Deputy Director for State, Local, and Tribal Cooperation, we want to invite you to the first formal stakeholder meeting, Friday, April 11th, from 10:00-5:00 in the main auditorium of the Congressional Visitors Center. The agenda for the event is appended below. As you are probably aware, the QER is a multi-agency analysis of the current state of our energy infrastructure (for transmission, storage, and distribution), with a view toward policy recommendations looking out to 2030 and beyond. DOE's EPSA Office is serving as the Secretariat for the QER, but the exercise involves a number of cooperating federal agencies with jurisdiction over various elements of the nation's energy infrastructure. The first formal stakeholder meeting is focusing on addressing energy infrastructure vulnerabilities and improving resiliency. For your review, a memo on the purpose and themes of the April 11th event, the Federal Register notice for the first formal meeting, and a draft outline on the purpose and rationale for the QER, are attached. As a means of ensuring transparency of the QER effort, and to make certain that our analysis has the benefit of all relevant perspectives, we are including in this and each subsequent stakeholder meeting an "open mic" portion, during which the general public and the community of stakeholders will be able to speak for three minutes, with the ability to introduce into our permanent QER comments library any reports, studies, or data sets that people believe should be considered by the energy analysts who will be developing the final QER documents. EPSA encourages all energy stakeholders to participate in this meeting, and in subsequent meetings described in the Federal Register notice, as well as additional meetings yet to be scheduled. We look forward to seeing you all on Friday, April 11th at 10:00. 9 a.m. Doors Open People who want to speak during the afternoon public comment session may sign up on a first-come-first-served basis. 10 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. Opening Remarks by Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz and Dr. John P.
