Hunter, I promised I would keep you in the loop, so below is the email I sent to Jason Furman following our 25 minute call earlier today. Best. Bill Jason, Thanks for taking time to visit with me today. I am glad you found the proposal intriguing. Now I hope we find a way to get it accomplished timely. Because I fear that I may not have clearly articulated the benefits of this proposition during our call, please allow me to repeat them: 1. Cut the US bankruptcy rate by 50% 2. Drop the national unemployment rate by one full point 3. Stop 10 million unnecessary and fraudulent collection law suits that clog the entire US Court system 4. Stop 2 million foreclosures 5. Stop 80% of all garnishments and repossessions 6. Solve the delinquent student loan problem for 5.8 million former students 7. Provide $47 billion in principal reduction/debt forgiveness for families who need it the most * Free up consumer spending * Clean up bank balance sheets - creating a more liberal lending environment * Increase consumer spending - provide a spurt for the economy * Provide a total of $121 billion in benefits at a cost of $6.8 billion in one-time tax credits 8. Revitalize blighted communities by cleaning up abandoned properties - increasing the tax base 9. Help Homeless veterans become homeowners 10. Help 35 million families who are being pursued by egregious/abusive debt collectors 11. Create 500 jobs each, in NC, CO and AR 12. Create President Obama's legacy as the President who "won the war on poverty" by creating Economic Mobility and Income Equality for an entire class of citizens As I indicated during our call, because of the work that needs to be done in NC, AR and CO, there is an urgency to this proposition, whether the implementation be legislative or administrative. If there is anything I can do to facilitate or more importantly, expedite this process, please let me know. Thanks again for being so generous with your time today.
