We are regularly depleting the resources available in our emergency medical fund. Please consider making a donation to SOPHIE'S FUND now. http://support.washhumane.org/site/R?i=DDtcqtKdgV1MEdDVLEA-kQ This fund enables the Washington Humane Society to provide animals with urgent, specialized medical care. Sophie's Fund helps to save the lives of animals from our community every day. Coco Coco is a four pound Chihuahua who was allegedly beaten for going to the bathroom in the house. It is suspected that the abuser hit Coco in the face multiple times with the buckle end of a leash. Coco was also allegedly strangled with the slip end of the leash and tossed repeatedly against the ground. This badly injured dog was left untreated for at least five hours before our Humane Law Enforcement team was alerted. Our Senior Officer rushed Coco to the hospital with extensive bruising around the neck and body, a laceration on the top of his head, and massive blood loss. Coco had extreme swelling around his brain, and his eye was so severely damaged it had to be removed. Coco spent 10 days in intensive care at the hospital and is currently with a specialized WHS medical foster family. Coco's medical bills are already close to $5,000. Can you help Coco NOW? http://support.washhumane.org/site/R?i=XqKEd4HOjh8-E8RGEhKf7w Please donate to Sophie's Fund. Elliot Our Animal Care and Control Officers rescued this sweet retriever mix, now named Elliot, last week. Elliot was a stray who had been hit by a car and was hiding in an alley in great distress. He had open fractures, swelling and bruising, lacerations, and multiple other wounds. Our medical team performed an amputation surgery on his severely injured hind right leg. Elliot is being monitored closely and will be placed with a specialty WHS medical foster volunteer as soon as possible. http://support.washhumane.org/site/R?i=5oKJ37_xs3Q0_Jhndvo-bw Can you help Elliot NOW? Please donate to Sophie's Fund. Alvin Alvin was taken into protective custody by our Humane Law Enforcement team over the weekend. The owner of this approximately 10-month-old pit bull type dog was allegedly trying to fight him in an alley. Prior to our Officers arriving, the dogs were removed from the alley and put into a pen together. It was clear that the dogs were not reactive to each other and had been forced into conflict. Among other wounds received during the forced fight, Alvin's jaw was broken. A specialist wired Alvin's jaw shut Monday and inserted a drain for one of his puncture wounds. As soon as Alvin is able to leave the hospital, we will be placing this sweet dog with a WHS medical foster volunteer who can help him recover from his physical and emotional wounds. Can you help Alvin NOW? http://support.washhumane.org/site/R?i=sa0IqPflc-lgyetwhT3FJQ Please donate to Sophie's Fund. All our injured animals deserve the love, care, and hope that Coco, Elliot, and Alvin are receiving. Together, we can continue our vital work of saving the lives of local animals in need every single day. http://support.washhumane.org/site/R?i=suCWw-8y0y3oX54gyosCvA Please make a donation to Sophie's Fund and give them that chance. http://support.washhumane.org/site/R?i=sWQ-iikovjlKH-laJn_Vmw Write on our wall or follow us: twitter logo Facebook http://support.washhumane.org/site/R?i=EDcK4j4inJFKVgBrrZlZhg http://support.washhumane.org/site/R?i=p7Gidk_vVtrT2iPC5Du_DA Unsubscribe http://support.washhumane.org/site/CO?i=xwIFX_X1DrqikpvFpIcBinS_X2FPVBKm&cid=0 | Contact Us | Visit the WHS Website http://support.washhumane.org/site/R?i=LXWmT37m3BxiFgIpcSMnig http://support.washhumane.org/site/R?i=wCgwdboP_VY8LVropB7M8Q Washington Humane Society Locations and Hours http://support.washhumane.org/site/R?i=Sv1wq7qMt1hHnyBStl0eiQ To Report Cruelty/Neglect and Animal Emergencies 24-Hours a Day 202-723-5730 Powered by Convi
