Dear Friends,

On behalf of the team here at the Center for Education Reform, we
wish you the Happiest of Holidays! We are beginning to wind down
2011 -- a year filled with accomplishments in education reform,
many challenges and yes, a few disappointments. But the hope of
this very season also restores our hope -- and our resolve --
that we will make more progress in the coming year.

So, yes, this is yet another reminder and request that we need
your help to do just that. Whether it be pushing the Pennsylvania
state house to do the right thing by adopting meaningful school
choice for children, or challenging our friends in positions of
authority who have gotten a little bit too comfortable, CER is
the nation's leading advocate for substantive, structural, change
that lasts beyond just one generation. We don't accept
half-hearted attempts at reform, or piecemeal change. And we
don't have time to wait for others to figure it out, so we jump
in wherever we know we can add value and do so strategically,
thoughtfully and with 18 years of experience and insights under
our belt.

We love our colleagues in the field, and they all play a critical
role. But we've been working longer and harder than most
challenging conventional wisdom and will tell you unabashedly
that without the Center for Education Reform creating the
environment for change and raising the bar at every step, their
work would be far more difficult and less impactful. Reform can
only happen when the ecosystem for change is complete -- when
there are groups on the ground and in the air, people working
locally and nationally, and people committed to the long view.

So please take a minute and remind yourself why it is you've
contributed along the way and what we've done to ensure that
every dollar received has created real education reforms and
weakened the grip of the failed educational bureaucracy.

And as 2011 draws to a close, we want to remind you that every
dollar you give is also generously MATCHED in part by the Walton
Family Foundation.

Merry Christmas to you and yours, Happy Hanukkah, and may God's
richest blessings find you safe this season.
