McChrystal's Offence
A reader sends this excerpt from the Uniform Code of Military Justice:

"Any commissioned officer who uses contemptuous words against the President, the Vice President, Congress, the Secretary of Defense, the Secretary of a military department, the Secretary of Transportation, or the Governor or legislature of any State, Territory, Commonwealth, or possession in which he is on duty or present shall be punished as a court-martial may direct."

McChrystal Saw Quotes Before Publication
Rolling Stone editor Eric Bates told MSNBC's Joe Scarborough that Gen. Stanley McChrystal saw details from the article everyone is now talking about before it was published.

McChrystal did not object to any of the quotes in the piece.

Said Bates: "We ran everything by them in the fact checking process as we always do. They had a sense of what was coming and it was all on the record and they spent a lot of time with our reporter so I think they knew that they had said it."
