Biden coming to Maryland for O'Malley
Vice President Joe Biden is headlining a fundraiser later this month for Gov. Martin O'Malley (D), the latest appearance in a small parade of Obama administration officials coming to Maryland during the election year.

Biden is scheduled to appear with O'Malley at a July 19 event at a Baltimore hotel where tickets start at $250 per person. Donors who give $1,000 get access to a "VIP reception."

O'Malley has known Biden, the former senator from Delaware, since O'Malley's days as mayor of Baltimore. The two discovered they had mutual friends from the Irish music scene in Wilmington, Del., where O'Malley's Celtic rock band used to make regular appearances.

O'Malley was an early Hillary Clinton supporter during the 2008 Democratic presidential primary season. But ever since she dropped out, O'Malley has moved aggressively to embrace Obama, who remains very popular in Maryland.

Aides have suggested that Obama, as well as several members of his administration, could be appearing with O'Malley at campaign functions in coming months. O'Malley has joined Cabinet officials at numerous government-organized events since Obama took office
