Dear WFP USA Board, Happy post-election day. On behalf of Rick, I am pleased to invite all of you to a dinner and discussion in DC on Monday, November 28 with Muhannad Hadi, WFP's Regional Director for the Middle East, North Africa, Central Asia and Eastern Europe. Before assuming his current post, Hadi led WFP's Regional Syria Emergency Operation scaling up the response to feed more than 6 million people affected by the conflict. He acted as the Regional Emergency Coordinator for the Syria Crisis from December 2012 to May 2015 following his tenure as WFP's Representative and Country Director in Syria from June 2009 to December 2012. Hadi guided WFP in meeting urgent food needs while championing longer-term solutions to food insecurity and hunger for millions of Syrians. He is a renowned expert in Middle Eastern Affairs and a frequent speaker on the affairs of the Arab world. We know that this date - the Monday after the Thanksgiving holiday - may be difficult for people, but it is rare to have Hadi in town so we jumped at the chance to host an intimate, off-the-record dinner with him about the challenges facing WFP and its beneficiaries in MENA. Please let me know by Friday, November 18 if you will be able to attend the dinner.
