Dear Members of the Board, Attached to this email is a copy of an advertisement for the Great Prostate Cancer Challenge that will run in the September issue of Runner¹s World which oddly enough hits newsstands on August 1. This is a great way of bringing further national exposure to the race series as well as increasing the number of runners to our events and sponsor participation. We are quite fortunate to get this ad as Runner¹s World only partners with a very select group of nonprofits, including Komen and now ZERO. This is not the only good news to pass along. ZERO and the Prostate Cancer Foundation will be holding their main events of the year, (the Summit to End Prostate Cancer and the PCF Scientific Retreat) over the same dates in Washington, DC allowing for collaboration and some joint activities to raise the national profile of prostate cancer and to garner more attention from Congress. As you all recall our Board will be meeting in-person in Washington, DC on Tuesday, September 14, 2010. It is my understanding that PCF¹s Board will be doing the same and then everyone will come together at the Congressional reception that evening. This is also the same week that Tom Farrington and PHEN will be holding its African American Health Disparities Summit so we have a very full week of prostate cancer issues in Washington, DC. This is an excellent opportunity for the cause and I hope that each and every one of you will adjust your schedule to participate in the Board meeting as well as in meetings on Capitol Hill and some of the joint research/advocacy activities that will be available to you. As we continue our planning I will keep you abreast of schedules and opportunities. Also, if you have names/suggestions for Board members we could use them as soon as possible to accelerate the filling of our last two vacancies.
