Biden on Monday “endorsed Democrat Tina Smith for the US Senate seat. Smith
has held the seat since Al Franken’s resignation at the start of the year.”
Smith, who was appointed to the seat by Gov. Mark Dayton (D), is running in
this fall’s special election to for the remainder of Franken’s term.

Trump, Officials Defend “Zero Tolerance” Border Policy Amid Bipartisan
Criticism.

President Trump, DHS Secretary Nielsen and Attorney General Sessions all
offered unequivocal defenses of the Administration’s “zero tolerance”
border security policy on Monday. Their comments receive heavy coverage in
print and online this morning and on Monday’s network news broadcasts, all
of which led with the story. The coverage is decidedly negative for the
Administration, with many reports asserting Trump’s claim that Democrats
are responsible for the separation of immigrant children from their parents
is false and highlighting that prominent Republicans are joining with
Democrats in denouncing the Administration.
