Friends,I have been humbled and honored to run for South Carolina’s 5th congressional seat over the past nine months.First: Krystal, Bella, Zoe and I want to thank you. This has been an incredible journey for our whole family. We are so proud to be South Carolinians.To all of our volunteers and supporters: we could not have made it this far without each and every one of you. We’ll never forget your incredible hard work, support, and enthusiasm.While we hoped that the results would be different, everyone should feel proud of this campaign.Traveling across the eleven counties of this district over these past nine months, you’ve welcomed me into your homes, your churches, your farms. I’ve visited Shaw Air Force base, schools, factories, countless small businesses, festivals, and community gatherings. I connected with so many hard-working women, men and young people from all walks of life. It didn’t matter who I was talking to – there was a shared common goal throughout: That South Carolinians need the necessary tools to compete – and win. There is deep faith and strong communities in South Carolina. We need to continue to let our voices be heard around the issues that matter most: investing in our education, our military and our infrastructure – growing our economy and expanding our workforce.Throughout this campaign, I’ve spoken about all of us finding our calling, and about how this - public service - is mine. Tonight is neither the beginning nor the end; it’s another step forward to make our community, and our state, a better place. That mission continues tomorrow.
