As most of you know, Anne Marie had her laptop stolen from her desk last night. Theft overnight has now become an ongoing problem here in this office.

We have talked the building management and the DC Police came by so we could file a police report. However, we should all take a few extra pre-cautions in the meantime.

1) Last person out, please check both the front and back doors and make sure they are locked. Even if you are not sure you are the last person, please lock the doors after 6pm. Because of that, please make sure you have your key with you if you leave the office after 6pm and plan to come back. We will start locking the door at 6pm every night even if there are people still in the Suite.

2) If you have a laptop computer or other smaller valuable items, you may want to put it in a desk drawer overnight (preferably one that locks).

3) The Building is going to talk to the Cleaning Crew and mention that something was stolen, but beyond catching someone in the act there is not much they can do.

4) Finally, we are looking into installing a Kastle Key system for the Suite. This is something the building recommends and will solve the problem of the cleaning crew leaving the suite doors open while they clean the rest of the floor.

In the meantime, please take the above pre-cautions.
