Dear Finn, Did you know... ... the Millsaps Theatre Department's Spring 2015 production of As You Like It was recognized by the Kennedy Center? ... Millsaps' Creative Writing students have an unrivaled opportunity to learn about the life and work of Pulitzer-Prize-winning author Eudora Welty <https://eudorawelty.org/biography/>, who lived just blocks from campus? ... that Millsaps Studio Art students have the opportunity to visit and study at the Mississippi Museum of Art <http://www.msmuseumart.org/index.php/> on a regular basis, and that a number of their alums have had their work featured there during a variety of shows? ... that in the past couple of years, alumni of the Millsaps Music Department have gone on to study at prestigious programs such as The Juilliard School <http://www.juilliard.edu/about/newsroom/2014-15/juilliard-and-new-york-festival-song-present-great-american-songwriting-teams> and the Fontainebleau School Summer Music Program <http://www.fontainebleauschools.org/music/index.html>, and that Music faculty member Dr. Lynn Raley <http://millsaps.edu/academics/music.php> recently received a Fulbright Scholar grant to teach in Taiwan? ... that these facts only begin to scratch the surface of what it means to study the Fine Arts at Millsaps? The Fine Arts are a central part of the Millsaps College experience, and bring together students and faculty from across all divisions of the college. That is right: whether you plan on studying Art History, Creative Writing, Music, Studio Art, or Theatre, or on majoring in Neuroscience, Anthropology or Business, there is a place for you in the arts at Millsaps. If you would like to learn more about these programs, and get the chance to meet the faculty and students in these departments, then I would like to invite you to our Monday, November 21 Unlocking Millsaps <https://admission.millsaps.edu/portal/unlockingmillsaps> open house program. During this special iteration of Unlocking Millsaps, members of the Fine Arts faculty will be offering special sessions throughout the afternoon following our regular programming, so that you may have the chance to learn from and engage with their departments! And not to worry: if you are interested in attending the November Unlocking, but are not particularly wanting to learn about the arts, we will definitely still be hosting our regular open house programs -- nothing there has changed. Click here <https://admission.millsaps.edu/portal/unlockingmillsaps?id=d4da69e5-e9bf-409b-a09b-62b8764604c0> to register today for the November Unlocking Millsaps program -- available slots are filling up quickly! And if you have any questions about the arts at Millsaps College, please feel welcome to contact me at 601.974.1051, or jonathan.webb@millsaps.edu <mailto:jonathan.webb@millsaps.edu>. I hope to get to see you on campus soon!
