No one files to run against Beau Biden

DOVER — The filing deadline for political candidates in Delaware has passed, and no Republican has stepped forward to challenge Democrat incumbent Beau Biden in the attorney general's race.

As of the noon deadline today, no one had filed to run against Biden this fall in the attorney general contest. The Democrat has held the office since 2006 and filed to run for re-election after deciding not to run for the U.S. Senate seat vacated by his father when he became vice president.

Republicans and Democrats had their last chance today to register candidates for statewide and legislative races, but state law allows a party chairman to appoint a candidate as late as Sept. 1 for offices for which there is no primary election.
