> 2. Patty spent the week at the 14th International Hawai`i Summit on Preventing, Assessing & Treating Trauma Across the Lifespan. Her presentation, Prevention of Child Abuse: A Community Response, was a hit. She touched on a) ways to build awareness in communities about the emotional and economic impact of child sexual abuse, b) strategies for building a successful community-based prevention initiative including a discussion around evidence-based training programs (Stewards of Children) and how to further engage the community, and c) methods for fostering a network of socially responsible leaders and partners who can implement best practices, tools, and policies to help reduce the incidence of child sexual abuse.
