Dear friends, In case you missed it, I wanted to draw your attention to a “60 Minutes” (http://sesameworkshop.us1.list-manage.com/track/click?u=0e0834c3fc2abe76aa34523e7&id=1dbe2d2427&e=28fdb9e1d7) piece that aired Sunday, March 19. Lesley Stahl interviewed Joan Ganz Cooney, visited the set of Sesame Street, and introduced the world to our brand new Muppet, Julia. It was a wonderful piece that kicked off the newest phase of our autism initiative, See Amazing in All Children—and we’ve been thrilled with the tremendous response from around the world. Julia (there she is, below!) is an adorable, happy, four-year old girl with autism who makes her Sesame Street debut April 10. But she’s just one part of an initiative bringing a suite of new bilingual resources to families of children with autism—and families of children without autism. We remain passionately committed to our goal of promoting acceptance and understanding, while destigmatizing a condition diagnosed in one of 68 American children. We’ve heard from parents across the country that See Amazing has changed their lives since our first materials were released in October, 2015. Now, we’re excited to announce research findings in April from a Georgetown University / Children’s National Health System study that analyzed our impact. It’s another gratifying example of the “Sesame Effect” at work—where, with the power of Media and Muppets, we are able to raise awareness, bridge divides, and even plant the seeds of social change. I welcome you to take a look all of our autism resources here: autism.sesamestreet.org. Thanks for your continued interest and support!
