Katie/Meave I just read this for the first time- sorry for the late reply to such an incredible story of courage. Maeve is one incredible girl and I hope she knows that while the adults may not have listened at first they are listening now and I'm positive she gave hope to those children that were assaulted by her teacher. Beau always believed that the greatest act of courage was a child's acting in defense of another child when they know they might be ridiculed or humiliated or simply ignored. It's one thing to be a fearless Goliath, quite another to be a fearless David. Bravery in the face of insurmountable odds an expectation of being dismissed is true courage. That is what it is to be truly selfless. I'm so proud of you Meave, and maybe over the summer or whenever works for your Mom and Dad you can come to DE and spend some time at the foundation learning more about what we do. You are really remarkable, and I know people say things like "well I wouldn't expect less of Katie's daughter..." and that may be true, but what you did was all your own all by yourself and the consequences would have been all owned by you. The other thing Beau taught me is that being a hero isn't easy but in the end it is the most rewarding life of all.
