Hi 12th Grade Parents,It's April and the official countdown has begun!As Spring flowers burst forth and Senior Projects are on everyone's minds, we want to share a few quick reminders and updates for your review. In addition to the specific event updates below (grouped by subject), please also scroll to the bottom of the email for a "Key Dates" listing to add to your calendars. Prom, Prom & More Prom!Yes, Prom is upon us. Prom invitations and information will be distributed this week. Please be on the lookout! Final Parent Cocktail Party: April 13thYes, we never thought we'd type these words, but it's true. Please join your friends at Cactus Cantina THIS WEEK on April 13th, 7:00 - 9:00pm, for our last All Grade Parent Cocktail Party...a chance to celebrate that WE MADE IT and to commiserate before we send out kids off to the great unknown. A reminder to the previous Evite you received will go out today.A Night for Scholars: April 22Please join us for this year's "A Night for Scholars", Sidwell Friends' tradition of philanthropy in support of student financial aid, now in its 46th year. The event brings the SFS community together to celebrate the impact and importance of Quaker education. Twenty-three percent of students receive financial aid, and the spring fundraiser makes many of those awards possible. The event will be held in the Sidwell Friends Athletic Center. We hope to see you there!Glen Echo Park Senior Party: May 13thIn addition to Senior Celebration which is a Sidwell-sponsored graduation event, it has become somewhat of a tradition in the past few years for some of the parents of graduating seniors to host an off-campus, grade wide celebration event at Glen Echo Park. This year’s party will be held on Saturday May 13 from 8:00pm-11:00pm and all parents and seniors are invited. This is not a Sidwell-sponsored or a Parent’s Association event. It is parent-sponsored, parent-organized, and parent-hosted; all costs are covered by voluntary contributions from parents in the Class of 2017. Please refer to the email sent from the Organizing Committee (Danielle Pemberton Heard) on Sunday for more details.However you decide to participate or not, PLEASE put this date on your calendars and plan on coming with your graduating senior!Contacts: Kathleen Biden, Gretchen Brevnov, Claire Dwoskin, Liz Norton, Denielle Pemberton-HeardSenior Celebration: June 3rdThe planning continues for our on-campus PA sponsored evening with food, fun, and parent provided entertainment! The Class of 2017 Senior Celebration will take place on Saturday, June 3, from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m., at the Kogod Arts Center. Please save the date.Thanks to all who joined us for our second grade-wide meeting last month. We are very close to finalizing what the program will look like. If you have not volunteered to help, there is still time. Also, if you have not volunteered to perform (outside the all parents’ songs) and want to, please reach out. If you have a special talent that we do not yet know about … singing, dancing, acting…. please let us know. We have two other dates we would like you to hold – these are for all parent practices for the show. It will be very important to have as many of you there as possible. They are scheduled for Tuesday, May 23 at 7:00 p.m. and Wednesday May 31 at 7 pm -- both in the Kogod Arts center. Please save these two dates. Parents will be joined by US Administration and the Head of School. Light refreshments will be served. CommencementSidwell Friends School has a long tradition of marking commencement in a simple, meaningful ceremony on the lawn behind Zartman House. This year’s graduation, our 129th, will be no exception. The ceremony is set to take place on Friday, June 9th at 10:30am. Please refer to Mr. Woods' email of 3/23 for details regarding this year's celebration.
