<p dir="ltr" style="line-height:1.2;margin-top:0pt;margin-bottom:16pt;text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 12pt; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap; font-family: 'Times New Roman';">Sidwell Friends School has a long tradition of marking commencement in a simple, meaningful ceremony on the lawn behind Zartman House. This year’s graduation, our 129</span><span style="font-size: 7.2pt; vertical-align: super; white-space: pre-wrap; font-family: 'Times New Roman';">th</span><span style="font-size: 12pt; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap; font-family: 'Times New Roman';">, will be no exception. The ceremony is set to take place on Friday, June 9</span><span style="font-size: 7.2pt; vertical-align: super; white-space: pre-wrap; font-family: 'Times New Roman';">th</span><span style="font-size: 12pt; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap; font-family: 'Times New Roman';"> at 10:30am.</span></p>
<p dir="ltr" style="line-height:1.2;margin-top:0pt;margin-bottom:16pt;text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 12pt; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap; font-family: 'Times New Roman';">This is the first of several letters you will receive from us regarding graduation as spring progresses and we hope this communication will answer your questions about how the process works. First, the ceremony is a formal, family affair. Boys are asked to wear a suit or coat and tie and girls should dress tastefully and appropriately.</span></p>
<p dir="ltr" style="line-height:1.2;margin-top:0pt;margin-bottom:16pt;text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 12pt; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap; font-family: 'Times New Roman';">Second, each member of the class may invite as many guests as they would like to the ceremony as there is no assigned seating; please be mindful that there are a limited number of seats outdoors, but standing space is unlimited. If we expect inclement weather, the ceremony will be moved to the Athletic Center. Seniors will receive their graduation stationery, which will include invitations, twenty announcements and name cards. </span></p>
<p dir="ltr" style="line-height:1.2;margin-top:0pt;margin-bottom:16pt;text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 12pt; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap; font-family: 'Times New Roman';">There are also a number of events planned prior to graduation. On Friday, June 2</span><span style="font-size: 7.2pt; vertical-align: super; white-space: pre-wrap; font-family: 'Times New Roman';">nd</span><span style="font-size: 12pt; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap; font-family: 'Times New Roman';">, the seniors will take part in lunch and activities provided by the Alumni Office, followed by the distribution of senior yearbooks. Additionally, on Sunday, June 4</span><span style="font-size: 7.2pt; vertical-align: super; white-space: pre-wrap; font-family: 'Times New Roman';">th</span><span style="font-size: 12pt; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap; font-family: 'Times New Roman';"> there will be Meeting for Worship at 4:00 p.m. for seniors, parents, and faculty in the Robert L. Smith Meeting House followed by a reception in the lobby. Graduation rehearsals will be held on Monday, June 5</span><span style="font-size: 7.2pt; vertical-align: super; white-space: pre-wrap; font-family: 'Times New Roman';">th</span><span style="font-size: 12pt; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap; font-family: 'Times New Roman';"> from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Wednesday, June 7</span><span style="font-size: 7.2pt; vertical-align: super; white-space: pre-wrap; font-family: 'Times New Roman';">th</span><span style="font-size: 12pt; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap; font-family: 'Times New Roman';"> from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Seniors should plan to meet in the courtyard outside the Arts Center each day of rehearsal. Due to the importance of these rehearsals, attendance on both days is mandatory. Please be certain that you do not schedule any appointments that would conflict with these rehearsals.</span></p>
<p dir="ltr" style="line-height:1.2;margin-top:0pt;margin-bottom:16pt;text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 12pt; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap; font-family: 'Times New Roman';">On the morning of graduation, seniors must arrive on campus no later than 8:00 a.m. and report to the cafeteria. Directly before the ceremony, The Class of 2017 will have their final Meeting for Worship as Sidwell Friends students and will sit for their official class photograph. In order to allow for maximum guest parking, we prefer that students be dropped off, rather than driving themselves. This will save spaces in the parking garage for your family and friends in attendance. </span></p>
<p dir="ltr" style="line-height:1.2;margin-top:0pt;margin-bottom:0pt;"><span style="font-size: 12pt; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap; font-family: 'Times New Roman';">Next month, we will send an updated schedule of events connected to the end of the year </span><span style="font-size: 12pt; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap; font-family: 'Times New Roman';">celebrations.
