Joe Biden Is More Presidential Than Donald Trump Could Ever Hope to Be

In his first public appearance since the election, the former vice
president asked the one question on everyone's mind.

Two months in, the Trump administration has devolved into such a
terrifying, morally bankrupt mess that sometimes it's easy to forget just
how *absurd* it is that the President of the United States is a bumbling
conspiracy theorist
<http://www.gq.com/story/donald-trump-wiretapping-desperation> who is under
an *active federal investigation
<http://www.gq.com/story/james-comey-fbi-russia-trump>* for his campaign's
contacts with a hostile foreign power during the 2016 election.
Fortunately, former vice president Joe Biden, lover of memes
<http://www.gq.com/story/joe-biden-loves-memes> and noted fisticuffs
enthusiast <http://www.gq.com/story/donald-trump-joe-biden-fight>, is more
than happy to serve as our badly-needed national voice of reason.

Biden delivered an impassioned defense of the Affordable Care Act at a rally
<http://www.politico.com/story/2017/03/joe-biden-obamacare-rally-dc-236253>
on the Capitol steps this morning, but the real fireworks came during his
off-the-cuff remarks to the assembled press. As usual, America's favorite
aspirational uncle simply couldn't help himself.

The notion that there’s still this...*romance* with Putin? The idea
that—I’m told, I’m not sure, you would know better—but I’m told that the
Secretary of State decided he’d go and visit Putin
<http://www.vox.com/world/2017/3/21/15003466/rex-tillerson-nato-meeting-snub>
before he goes to the NATO conference? *What in the hell are we doing?*

After listening to the audio
<https://twitter.com/epngo/status/844563331172220928> something like 39
times, I am absolutely convinced that Biden says "bromance," but my editor
disagrees. You be the judge. Spiritually, at least, it's definitely
"bromance."
TRENDING THIS VERY SECOND

It's somewhat comforting to know that even the former vice president is out
here incredulously asking the very same questions that Americans have been
yelling at their televisions with increasing frequency and volume over the
last two months. Joe Biden, who embarked on a 36-year Senate career at the
same time that President Trump was being sued
<http://www.npr.org/2016/09/29/495955920/donald-trump-plagued-by-decades-old-housing-discrimination-case>
by the Department of Justice for race discrimination, is a national
treasure, and he possesses more common sense and leadership ability in his
American flag lapel pin than this current president could ever hope to
accumulate.

After the rally, a reporter asked
<https://twitter.com/daveweigel/status/844560099083464706> whether
President Obama, as Trump has alleged on social media without providing any
evidence, really ordered the wiretapping of Trump Tower during the
presidential campaign. The scornful response:

Yeah, five or six times. Are you serious?

Joe Biden forever and ever and ever.
