Friend -

This month, I've been reflecting on the past year. One highlight of 2014 for me: the ability we showed over and over to inspire each other to take positive action and improve our world.

As I ran for reelection to the Senate, when I asked, you were willing to support my campaign -- thank you. Last month during Thanksgiving week, I myself was inspired to take action for others when New Jerseyans told me their stories about volunteering their time to help those in need.

Now, my colleague Senator Dick Durbin of Illinois has inspired me again: he told me about an organization founded by an amazing New Jerseyan named Katie Meyler. Her organization, "More than Me", started with the mission of getting young women in Liberia the education and resources they need to determine the direction of their own lives. But as the Ebola crisis has come to Liberia, More than Me's mission has expanded.

I've decided to donate to More than Me, as well as two other great New Jersey charities: Elijah's Promise in New Brunswick, and People for Animals in Hillside and Robbinsville, NJ.

Will you join me in donating to one (or all) of these impactful organizations? Check them out below:

More than Me
During the Ebola crisis, More than Me is focusing on filling gaps in care with regard to vulnerable children, enabling local leaders who are identifying probable Ebola cases and assisting them in transferring those cases to Ebola Treatment Units (ETUs), and supporting doctors in Liberia currently fighting Ebola.

Elijah's Promise
Elijah's Promise is a soup kitchen in New Brunswick, NJ -- one where I have served food many times. They base their work on the premise that food can change lives. By getting food to those in need, Elijah's Promise alleviates hunger, breaks the cycle of poverty and changes lives.

People for Animals
People for Animals is New Jersey's largest spay and neuter clinic, performing over 17,000 low cost spay and neuter surgeries yearly. People for Animals also has a Pet Rescue and Adoption Program, which is staffed by volunteers and provides medical care, food and shelter to rescued, stray and abandoned animals until permanent, loving homes can be found.

Every December, I challenge myself to give more in the spirit of service. If you add your will to mine and support these organizations, together we can magnify the positive impact that we make on our world.

Thank you for reading, and I hope your holiday season is a happy one.
