Dear Board Members, I am pleased to announce that WFP USA, in cooperation with six other leading US humanitarian NGOs and the US Institute of Peace, released today (April 12, 2016) a new report “A World at Risk: Humanitarian response at a crossroads<http://wfpusa.org/world-risk-humanitarian-response-crossroads-0>”. This is a product of the Humanitarian Crisis Response Initiative we discussed at our last board meeting in February. An exclusive, in-depth look at the report's recommendations was just published on The Christian Science Monitor<http://www.csmonitor.com/World/2016/0412/The-world-needs-to-change-the-way-it-helps-its-most-needy.-Here-s-how>. WFP USA plans to use this report and its recommendations as one of the cornerstones of our public policy advocacy activities over the next 2-3 years. Our goal will be seek to influence US humanitarian policy and funding to improve the quality and effectiveness of international response to the unprecedented number of refugees and displaced people currently in need of WFP food and other forms of humanitarian assistance. We are sharing this report with administration officials and Members of Congress. We will follow-up with you concerning specific opportunities to promote the recommendations set forth in the Report. Please let us know if you have any questions or comments concerning the report. All the Best, Rick Richard Leach President & CEO World Food Program USA 1725 Eye Street NW, Suite 510 Washington, DC 20006 T 202.627.3737 F 202.530.1698 rleach@wfpusa.org<mailto:jcorum@wfpusa.org>
