No one has worked harder this cycle and a great online piece in the Wall Street Journal today that sums it up: Joe the Fighter: Biden Logs 149 Campaign Events http://blogs.wsj.com/washwire/2010/11/02/joe-the-fighter-biden-logs-149-campaign-events/ Joe the Fighter: Biden Logs 149 Campaign Events Don’t blame Vice President Joe Biden for the outcome later tonight. The former Delaware senator has appeared with just about every Democrat in a tight race since he took the oath of office. In fact, he’s attended 149 campaign events in more than 30 states, according to a spreadsheet maintained his office. Mr. Biden kicked things off March 14, 2009, in Little Rock, Ark., with his former Senate colleague Blanche Lincoln, the incumbent Democrat who survived a hard-fought primary only to face near-certain defeat later today. In the intervening months, the vice president has crisscrossed the country stumping for Democratic governors and senators to congressman and congressional hopefuls. In the last month, he’s done 36 events, 11 in the last week alone. He started in Orlando, Fla., flew to Manchester, N.H., and made his way down to New York, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. A Biden visit could be a blessing or raise eyebrows. His fund-raiser for Rep. Frank Kratovil last week in Washington fed speculation that the embattled first-term Maryland Democrat might actually survive. His appearance for Iowa Rep. Bruce Braley in Dubuque the next day fed speculation that the onetime rising-star faces a tougher challenge than most people thought. He’s been to Austin, Texas, and West Orange, N.J., all over Ohio, and Wilmington, Del., of course. In his native Pennsylvania, he’s been to Allentown, Bethlehem, Scranton and Wilkes-Barre, as well as Pittsburgh and Philadelphia. He’s done eight events for Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland, who faces a tough test against Republican former Rep. John Kasich. On Sept. 20, he did a fund-raiser for Mr. Strickland in Dayton, a rally for the governor in Akron and a fund-raiser in Canton. Plenty of the Democrats he’s appeared with won’t be returning to Washington – or their state capital – next year. In fact, New Jersey voters sent Democratic Gov. Jon Corzine packing last year. Mr. Biden hosted three events for him.
