Dear R.hunter,

I'm humbled and honored by the trust the voters of Delaware
placed in me yesterday by electing me to serve as their next
United States Senator.

Delawareans said our ideas are the right ones to grow our
economy and get people back to work. They voted for a path
forward that is fiscally responsible, inclusive and
representative of Delaware's finest traditions of moderation
and tolerance. That is the type of Senator I will be in
Washington.

As hard as we worked to win yesterday, the election was the
easy part. Now the hard work begins.

As I have traveled up and down the state I consistently
heard two things – how will you get us back to work and how
will you work across the partisan divide. For the most
part, folks are worried about keeping a job or finding a job
than if you are a Republican or a Democrat. They want to
know what you are going to do to help bring opportunity and
hope to their lives.

As your United States Senator, I will not back down from
making tough decisions – potentially unpopular votes – tough
votes – because that is what you have sent me to do – and as
I have said over the course of this campaign I will make
those tough votes if I believe it is ultimately in the best
interests of Delaware's families and in the security of our
nation.

My hope is that after this election people across the
country will join us in pushing for an end to partisanship
and a renewed spirit of progress.

Thank you so much for your support. I am honored to be your
Senator-Elect and vow to make you proud.
