Hey Guys, I wasnt able to find a ton of info on any pending rolling stock deal moving in LA. There was a lot of press on a deal between Metro and AnsaldoBreda (Italian car manufacturer) that fell apart in late 2009 over delays and cost overruns. AnsaldoBreda had agreed to build a plant in LA to construct the 100 light rail cars prior to the deal going south ( http://www.scpr.org/news/2009/11/02/ansaldobreda-fallout/). That contract, $300m, was supposed to be rebid in early 2010. I havent found anything that says that ever happened and it could very well be the same contract being explored by CAF. Take a quick look at Metro's board of directors: http://www.metro.net/about/board/executives/ to see if we have any connections there (Mayor Villaraigosa is Vice Chair). We can of course just ask on the call what the status of the deal is, but would be good to have some more background so I'll see what else I can find!
