Cleveland won a championship. The Chicago Cubs actually won the World Series. Leonardo Dicaprio got his Oscar. As unforgettable as 2016 was for everyone else, for me, nothing will top when my friend Larry Kaplan travelled over 20,000 miles to pour things on his head in all 50 states to support people with ALS, especially since I got to join him. Last January, if you had mentioned any of these things to me, or the million other events of the last year, I would not have believed you. In fact, I still find it hard to believe all of the things I witnessed when I spent time with Larry Kaplan travelling across the country. I saw Larry dump barbeque sauce on himself in West Virginia, beer in Nebraska, cheese in Wisconsin, and so much more. Yet, as gross and messy as this adventure was, what I will remember most of all was the reaction from the ALS families along the way. They were inspired, but we were even more inspired by them. Each bucket was another splash of hope for someone who was facing a terrible disease. Driving across the country is hard, but knowing that those families got better care and felt connected and supported made every mile worth it. Larry travelled over 20,000 of those miles. His journey is done, but the journey to end ALS is certainly not. The 50 in 30 team raised over $ 80,000 for ALS care and research. I hope you can find time today to get us closer to $ 100,000 with a donation at www.50in30.org <https://www.alsphiladelphia.org/page.redir?target=http%3a%2f%2fwww.50in30.org&srcid=46388&srctid=1&erid=13363569&trid=92657ab4-7ccb-461e-ae92-35b883e4ba1d>. Your donations will provide even more hope to those living with this disease. I know, because I saw it personally. While I spent a week on the road for this project, Larry devoted an entire month of his life to traveling the country to raise money and awareness for the ALS cause. After that month was over, he was able to go home to his family and friends and live a normal life. People with ALS do not have the same luxuries that he does, and that is why Larry did this. That is also why we need your continued donations and support. Thank you to everyone who has supported the 50 in 30 campaign. 2016 proved that anything is possible. You prove that ending ALS is possible too. It’s not too late to take advantage of this final opportunity. This is the last chance to Donate at www.50in30.org <https://www.alsphiladelphia.org/page.redir?target=http%3a%2f%2fwww.50in30.org&srcid=46388&srctid=1&erid=13363569&trid=92657ab4-7ccb-461e-ae92-35b883e4ba1d> support ALS families.
