If you guys happen to be in NYC MLK weekend (January 17 & 18), I’m doing this weekend workshop that my buddy Eddie Stern is hosting at his studio, Ashtanga Yoga New York. If you want to learn mysore and/or meditation, this is the guy to learn from! http://ayny.org <http://ayny.org/> > On Jan 5, 2015, at 12:41 PM, Hunter Biden <hbiden@rosemontseneca.com> wrote: > > Just ordered Yoga Mala. let me know when you are in DC next. Then works through each pose of the primary series, explaining the pose, the benefits, etc. >> >> Ashtanga Yoga Series 1-4: http://ashtanga.com/html/p.lasso?p=10246 <http://ashtanga.com/html/p.lasso?p=10246> >> This is like the Ashtanga Bible. Lino Miele (my Italian friend) wrote it with Guruji before he passed. The first edition was just the primary series and second series, which was a bit more digestible. This works through primary through 4th series - crazy stuff and a bit daunting. I suppose the intent is a lifetime practice and it would take most lifetimes to get to 4th! Anyways, this explain each pose, and corresponding breaths and movements. It’s a “how to,” in terms of each pose. >> >> Guruji: http://ashtanga.com/html/p.lasso?p=10221 <http://ashtanga.com/html/p.lasso?p=10221> >> My buddy Eddie Stern (the guy in New York) put this book together a few years back. It is a series of interviews with original students of Guruji. You get a really good look into the history of the practice and a good portrait of Guruji and the lineage. It’s about 500 pages but it’s a quick read because of how it’s written. >> >> Ashtanga, NY (DVD): http://ashtanga.com/html/p.lasso?p=10065 <http://ashtanga.com/html/p.lasso?p=10065> >> A documentary on Ashtanga and Guruji’s workshop with my buddy Eddie in New York in 2001. It overlapped with 9/11, which is included in the documentary. It’s only an hour but it’s pretty incredible footage. You can rent it on Netflix. >> >
