Dear Hunter,

Our friend and colleague, the late Senator Ted Kennedy, had a vision of an institute that teaches about the United States Senate and its critical role in our nation's history. He wanted to tell the story of senators - men and women of good will, from both sides of the aisle - that have come together to address the greatest challenges facing our nation.

As the Edward M. Kennedy Institute prepares to open its doors, learn more about how we're bringing Senator Kennedy's vision to life.

We have all seen the polls about declining trust in government and civic participation. The EMK Institute aims to address this problem by establishing a national center that brings the ideas of democracy and leadership to life, engaging and inspiring the next generation of leaders. They have partnered with champions of civic education to develop compelling and relevant programs that use innovative technology to engage all citizens in the democratic process like never before.

The Institute's programs will serve students of all ages, teachers, scholars, senators and their staff, and members of the public from around the world. Whether you are a Democrat, Republican or Independent, the Institute will show how senators from all walks of life have worked hard to overcome gridlock. It has been done before, and it can be done again.

We are proud to serve on the board of the Edward M. Kennedy Institute, and we urge you to join us in fulfilling Senator Kennedy's vision. We look forward to the dedication and opening in March 2015 and hope to see you at the Institute in the near future.
