The first edition was just the primary series and second series, which was a bit more digestible. This works through primary through 4th series - crazy stuff and a bit daunting. I suppose the intent is a lifetime practice and it would take most lifetimes to get to 4th! Anyways, this explain each pose, and corresponding breaths and movements. It’s a “how to,” in terms of each pose.

You get a really good look into the history of the practice and a good portrait of Guruji and the lineage. It’s about 500 pages but it’s a quick read because of how it’s written.

>> A documentary on Ashtanga and Guruji’s workshop with my buddy Eddie in New York in 2001. It overlapped with 9/11, which is included in the documentary. It’s only an hour but it’s pretty incredible footage. You can rent it on Netflix.
