Donald Trump and Betsy DeVos gave Congress an education budget that's a nonstarter. The Trump/DeVos budget cuts $9.2 billion in public education funding -- money used for children's education, workforce development, college affordability, and student loan forgiveness.

We should be fully funding early childhood education programs, guaranteeing teachers the resources they need, and investing in our public schools. But instead, this budget gives taxpayer money to unaccountable private entities through voucher programs.

Trump and DeVos also showed they don't give a damn about college affordability. They're slashing subsidized student loans, loan forgiveness, and work-study programs. This budget would make it harder for students to pay for college and harder to repay their debt after graduation.
