EMAIL DETAILS

Hi folks, Ron and I discussed this last week, and he’d like to extend an invitation to a few current and former members of congress to play (for free) in the golf outing on 9/26. I’ve pasted below a letter for Hallie to sign so I may scan and get to their respective offices.

Invitees would be:
Hoyer
Boehner
Cantor
Van Hollen
Casey
Bob Brady
Coons
Carper
Carney
Castle
I know Sen.Coons is already planning on coming to the cocktail reception, and I’m sure neither he nor TC golf, but it’s only fair to ask them if we’re asking others. I’m sure there are others we could ask, if you have any suggestions. I would add that Markell is already attending, and I would like to avoid Matt Denn if at all possible.
Let me know what you think.

Dear Congressman/Senator X,

In June 2016, shortly after my husband passed away, our family established the Beau Biden Foundation for the Protection of Children. We believe that no child should be threatened by a predator – either an adult or a peer – and that child abuse can be prevented through effectively educating adults and children, developing the next generation of child welfare professionals and strengthening child protection laws around the country.

Our programming includes a child sexual abuse prevention seminar (in partnership with Darkness To Light), called Stewards of Children®; an in-school program called NetSmartz (in conjunction with the National Center For Missing & Exploited Children); a pilot initiative called Safe To Compete (with partners The Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation, The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware); and the Beau Biden Fellowship at the National Association of Attorneys General.

In our first year, we’ve trained over 1,000 adults in ways to prevent child sexual abuse and have spoken to over 2,000 kids about being safe on-line. Our programming is rooted in Delaware, and our mission is Beau’s mission – to prevent child abuse by shining a bright light on it.

On September 26, 2016, at Wilmington Country Club, we’ll be hosting the second annual Beau Biden Foundation Invitational. Last year we raised over $200,000 and expect to exceed that amount this year. It would mean so much to me and to Hunter and to our whole family to have you participate, as our guest, at this event. The day begins with a golfer brunch at 10 am, followed by golf, and a cocktail reception, silent auction, and remarks from the Foundation staff and my family at 5 pm.

If you’re able to attend, please let me know. My email is halliebiden@gmail.com or you can call the Foundation office at 302-295-8340.

Thank you, and I hope to see you on September 26.

Hallie Biden
