Tuesday - August 30, 2016 Friends,As summer comes to an end and we prepare for the new school year, I want to thank you for recognizing the value of Sidwell Friends education. Thanks to the generosity of our community, the Annual Fund provides essential revenue for the School’s operations, raising more than $2.6 million, or about 5 percent of the annual budget. Many parents, alumni, and friends support our faculty and students with gifts that fund professional development opportunities and financial aid—two key touchstones for the School. The Quaker tradition insists that truth is most meaningfully explored when students and teachers are authentically engaged in relationship with one another. Our community remains vibrant because we invest deeply in the belief that our students must be intelligent, empathetic leaders who will help make the world more thoughtful and just. The world needs Quaker education, and the Annual Fund enables us to provide it. I hope we can count on your generosity in the year ahead. This spring we introduced a marvelous video in which students spoke of their teachers as everyday heroes. You will see more of this video series with the Annual Fund appeals this year, and I ask you to consider being a hero for the students by making a new gift in 2016/17. You can view the first episode at sidwell.edu/everydayheroes.With gratitude for the friendship you have shown to this community,Bryan GarmanHead of School 3825 Wisconsin Avenue NW Washington, DC 20016 Tel: 202-537-8100 Fax: 202-537-8138 Please unsubscribe me from all future Annual Funds e-mails: To unsubscribe, please click here
