Hi Parents of Sidwell Varsity Soccer Players - Congratulations to your girls on being on the team! I am mom to Lucy Fredell, senior on the team. Val (the other senior) and Lucy have been planning a one night camping trip for this Sunday August 28 . I wanted to reach out to parents about the trip. I will be chaperoning along with other moms. This is a non-school event and totally optional but we hope the girls can all make it. Sorry it is very short notice for some of you. Veteran parents are familiar with the many rituals of the Sidwell girls soccer team. Typically there is a sleepover, a welcome dinner, and other events. This first event is the sleepover (something a little different) - they will also make their own team tshirts. Lucy and Val will be collecting money to cover the cost of campsite, meals, and tshirt making - probably around $40. We have 3 campsites (6 person each) reserved plus 1 cabin that has 6 beds for chaperones. The girls preferred tents. Its about an hour drive. Here is reservation detail. Campground: CUNNINGHAM FALLS STATE PARK Site: 131, 133, 135, ASH cabin Loop: HOUCK AREA ELDERBERRY LOOP Lucy tells me the following details some of which is also being communicated to the girls via chat group. 1. They are meeting 12 noon on Sunday at Val's house: 5063 Macomb St Washington dc 20016. They will organize, get stuff into the cars and leave around 1230pm. The girls are to eat lunch BEFORE arriving. 2. The parent drivers (I believe) are Barbara Swoboda (myself), Lauren Jones (Mikala and Allison mom), Joy Willing (Nicole's mom), and Elaine Harrington (Brooke's mom). I think we all have vans. Can you all please confirm back to me? Also Joy needs to come back early on Monday morning so we may need help on return trip or another chaperone. The chaperones are in the lap of luxury with a roof over their heads! 3. The plan is to return Monday morning. Practice will be at 12noon so depending on chaperones restrictions that may go straight to practice after the trip ie they need to bring soccer stuff with them. TBD. 4. They will make tshirts (ie it is messy so no nice clothes), hiking, dinner around campfire, smores, set up tents and have breakfast in morning. 5. They need to bring sleeping bags, pillow, tents if you have one, a folding chair is nice. 6. Lucy and Val are going shopping to buy supplies for the trip.
