That's awesome. I don't think I will be there or I would try to find her. I think you had old email of hunts so I Cc'd him on this. That all changed this morning while speaking to the mother of a MSK boy who has battled cancer for 16 years. Her son has relapsed 12 times yet this mom told me that for every relapse, there has been a new treatment to prolong his life thanks to the science and medical progress. That is what is happening right now - new therapies, new technology, longer lives for these children. > > So I ask again to join the cause to ensure that this momentum of breakthroughs continue because I want ALL mothers to know that their child will survive their cancer diagnosis. > > Now is the Time to Fund Pediatric Cancer Research. I know I have asked you all to give to pediatric cancer research and then asked again. Sometimes, it's hard for me to hit the SEND button when I write these letters. But then, Scarlett and I go to MSK and I see the really sick children and the devastated looks on the parent’s faces and I just know I have to keep pushing. I have to be my child’s voice because it’s not a lack of fresh ideas that is hindering the effort to solve cancer’s puzzle, it is simply time and money. The time is now to find a cure. > > I look at my own daughter who is now 11 months out of treatment and a cancer survivor. I am incredibly grateful for the research and clinical trials that led to the development of Scarlett’s curative therapy. While Scarlett visits MSK monthly for either blood work or a bone marrow aspirations & spinal taps, these visits will become less frequent as time passes. She is back at school, wearing ponytails and enjoying the childhood she not only deserves but one that she also had to fight for. > > Thank you for your continued outpouring of support for our family as well as for our cause. Go TEAM ROAR!!! 100% of the money raised by Team Roar will be directed to The Scarlett Fund at MSKCC. > > Please see below for the first look into my marathon dedications! > > With gratitude, thanks and lots of love, > > Jennifer > > CLICK HERE TO DONATE > WHY I WANT TO RUN: > It was my goal to run the marathon to continue to support my daughter, Scarlett, as well as the many children we have met in the last 3 years, including my son’s classmate and family friend, Charles who was diagnosed with a brain tumor this past spring. In addition, I planned to run for Paige who passed in June after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. Paige showed me how to stay positive and how to handle the pressure of a cancer diagnosis with grace and dignity. She showed endless love and support for my daughter. Scarlett listened and she learned. In Scarlett, I see Paige’s compassion and her appreciation of all things good. Paige will never be forgotten. > > ABOUT THE SCARLETT FUND > The Scarlett Fund was created by Jennifer and Robert James in honor of their daughter, Scarlett, who was diagnosed with T cell lymphoma in 2013. Every dollar raised by The Scarlett Fund is allocated to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK)’s Department of Pediatrics—whose internationally recognized team treats more children with cancer than any other institution in the world. The Scarlett Fund is driving a groundbreaking pediatric precision medicine initiative. The goal is to identify genetic mutations, and develop new, less-toxic targeted therapies for this most vulnerable group of patients. The Scarlett Fund is fueling pioneering research that will impact boys and girls around the world battling cancer, while also bringing attention to these understudied malignancies. > > > Scarlett Summer 2016 > CLICK HERE TO DONATE > > > > Copyright © 2016 The Scarlett Fund at MSKCC, All rights reserved. > You are receiving this email because of your support of The Scarlett Fund at Memorial Sloan Kettering. > > Our mailing address is: > The Scarlett Fund at MSKCC > 53 East 66th Street, Apt 5AB > New York, NY 10065 > > Add us to your address book > > > Want to change how you receive these emails? > You can update your preferences or unsubscribe from this list > > > >=2
