Dear Hunter,
When historians write the book on 2016 it will be judged a watershed year, one of those "hinge of history" periods when countless events changed the direction of the world, though we do not yet have enough perspective to have clarity.
In my Forbes contributions of the past year I have reflected on "leadership" as the "not-so-secret" sauce which helps shape what that direction might be.
If you missed my final three posts of the year, I am pleased to share them here. The first two from last month muse on the US as it emerges from the most surprising and divisive national election outcome in my lifetime. My final 2016 column addresses what I believe is the biggest challenge going into the year ahead (and has apparently caught the Google search wave as their top searched story of the last week under the banner of “cyber warfare”).

2017 Will Be The Year Of Cyber Warfare [ https://info.atkearney.com/email_handler.aspx?sid=3f137bb3-7693-439e-be11-2b365b58bc61&redirect=http%3a%2f%2fwww.forbes.com%2fsites%2fpaullaudicina%2f2016%2f12%2f16%2f2017-will-be-the-year-of-cyber-warfare%2f ]
All of the challenges and disappointments of this last year notwithstanding, I remain optimistic that sanity will prevail. I surely can't prove it, but like American philosopher of pragmatism William James ("Will to Believe") might well counsel us, it is only by striving to achieve the best outcome, no matter how difficult and devoid of empirical proof, that we have the opportunity to overcome barriers and be the best that we can.
Thank you for letting me share my thoughts with you this past year. I wish you and yours a wonderful holiday and a hopeful 2017, filled with leadership and leaders who can help us navigate through the uncharted waters ahead.
