Interesting -- I just called the CIO of the NYState Teachers Retirement System ($1.6b fund) and they have 1 consultant -- new as of 6 months ago. A Chicago-based firm called Ennis Knupp.

Apparently Ennis Knupp is in the process of being acquired by Hewitt Associates, who in turn is being acquired by the insurance brokers AOM. So far, however, NYSTRS is happy with this new firm's performace.
