Republicans have made their plans for Election Night: As the polls close and results begin to come in, they'll gather at a ritzy downtown hotel for a party hosted by one of the biggest lobbying firms in Washington.

In the meantime, donors have been asked to cut checks for $10,000 for "prominent signage" and special VIP access to pay for the party.

Say what you want about the GOP: They believe in dancing with the folks who brought them.

We believe in you. That's why Democrats are building a grassroots campaign, focused on organizing, funded by real people who give what they can.

We're on track to reach 3 million donations as part of of our By the People Fund. But to stay on pace, we need 20,000 donations this week.

These corporations are betting on the GOP in a big way. They are directing their political committees to increase their contributions to Republican candidates and campaigns.

Special interests are even spending on campaigns directly, thanks to the <em>Citizens United</em> Supreme Court decision -- paying for advertising to attack Democrats and writing it off as the cost of doing business.

If these folks are funding Republican campaigns and partying with them on Election Night, there's no telling how tight they'll be with the GOP in Congress if they win a majority.

But we've got a plan to ensure they don't.

We're committed to a voter turnout effort unlike anything Democrats -- or any other political party -- have ever attempted in an election like this. We're knocking on thousands of doors every week so that we can get millions of voters out to polls.

We know this model works -- it's the same plan that propelled President Obama to victory in 2008.

If we keep hitting our goals and continue to execute, the party Republicans are planning for Election Night will be a very sad place to be. There will be a room full of lobbyists wondering why they spent so much to win so little.

But we must continue to hit our marks -- which means finding 20,000 contributors this week.
