Gary-

I think we may have discussed this briefly at lunch, but we have a close relationship with a Dominican businessman named Manuel Estrella. His company, Estrella, is the largest Dominican infrastructure firm involved in Haiti and currently is involved in building roads there. They were in Haiti before the earthquake and became very involved in the relief efforts - they personally airlifted Haitians out to the DR. Estrella does more than just infrastructure and in fact owns hospitals, TV stations, energy projects and airports in the DR as well.

Manuel is very interested in becoming further involved in Haiti and wants to set up exactly the types of projects we discussed - those that create jobs for Haitians long term.

If you are available, I would really like to introduce Manuel to you. I think that he could be very helpful and may be a good local partner for you or others interested in Haiti going forward.

I don't know what your schedule is like in the coming weeks, but I think Manuel may have plans to be in DC next week. If not, I believe he is headed to China for a couple of weeks and we could look at finding some time when he returns.
