It is all bullshit. You are 100% preaching to the choir here. From: Hunter Biden [mailto:hbiden@rosemontseneca.com] Sent: Thursday, June 05, 2014 11:58 AM To: Toohey, Ryan Cc: Devon Archer Subject: Re: Thanks Ryan- I know we are all on the same page- but I want to make sure we don't get sucked down the rabbit hole these guys are digging for us. I think we need to just stick to the basics here. Burisma is a well respected producer of a vital energy source inside Ukraine. They are a well run company with contracts with some of the best brands in the industry. The organization began developing a corporate overhaul in 2013 to position itself for expansion of operations outside of Ukraine and to increase production internally. They- with advice first from Mr. Apter- determined that the corporate structure of Burisma needed an overhaul. First step towards that was to develop an independent board of directors. In doing so they sought individuals with deep knowledge of corporate governance, international affairs and sound business judgement on the international stage. If you look at my resume- Vice Chairman of the Board of Amtrak, USGLC, Truman, NDI, and Chairman of the Board of the WFPUS supporting the largest humanitarian organization in the world- combined with being of-counsel to Boies Schiller combined w/ being an adjunct professor at Georgetown's masters program in the school of foreign service combined with being the chairman of a company that has over $2B in AUM would anyone ever question why I would be asked to join the board- or more accurately attend and provide advice at 2-4 meetings per year? The very frustrating thing here is the way in which I feel we are being defensive- even with all the above- simply b/c some reporter wants to somehow draw a link btw my father and the president and my role at Burisma- as if in anyone's wildest dreams there is any truth to me being the tip of the spear of a US takeover of the Ukraine gas industry. I just think we need to be punching back on those points and not apologizing. Burisma may not have a perfect record- but what corporation does? What if I had joined the board of Haliburton, or Walmart or Apple for that matter. They all have serious corporate image issues. What if I went to work for Goldman Sachs (like half this administration did). Would I be held to a different standard than any other private citizen? Would I be asked to reveal my compensation package? Anyway now I'm just preaching- but I hope you get my point.
