Republicans are trying to cut Pell Grants that help students afford college. Force young people off their parents' insurance policies. Cut programs that diagnose cancer. And end support of PBS and NPR – purely for politics.

Does any of that sound like job creation to you?

I need your help – now – to fight this runaway ideology that's coming at us like a freight train from the Republican majority in the House. We Senate Democrats stand as a firewall against the radical agenda, but this firewall could topple in 2012. If Republicans pick up just four seats, our check on their extremism will disappear.

My friend, Ted Kennedy, once said: "The heart and soul of the Democratic Party is the idea that we will all take care of each other when times are as tough as they are now." He dedicated his life to helping more Americans get health care, and these ideological Republicans in overdrive are dedicated to taking it away. I won't stand by quietly. And I know you won't, either.

But the Republicans will be getting lots of help. GOP-aligned groups and the Koch Brothers are already pouring money into crucial races. Karl Rove's secretive groups have pledged $120 million to defeat Democrats, and corporations will follow. The Supreme Court gave them its blessing to spend whatever they'd like in support of candidates.

We're facing one of the most difficult election maps in years. Democrats are defending 23 seats, while Republicans only have 10. That means the 90 percent of DSCC contributions that come from grassroots donors will need to work harder than ever.

Our majority is on the line, and what grassroots Democrats do right now matters!
