Dear NMNS Board,
I wanted to thank all of you for a few things: your intensely careful and thoughtful deliberations on behalf of our Network's mission; your support of me and my leadership; and your rightful confidence in the work presented by Melodie and David. I spent yesterday with them at our New York regional meeting. It was a perfect follow up to our board meeting, evidencing the rightness of the direction we have set. We will take a careful look at these regional meetings after this first round, but I left yesterday absolutely convinced that this focus will provide the desired result: increased efficiency and optimal performance within and among our schools, opportunities for forming relevant communities of practice, etc.

Quite a few of you contacted me yesterday to follow up on our board meeting, with special concern expressed for Greg. After talking further with Paul Minorini and Jane Genster, I decided not to let Greg know of my decision immediately following the meeting. I wanted to be clear about how we would communicate the changes and direction set for the Network (internally and externally) and also wanted to give more thought to what we are able and prepared to offer Greg. That being said, Greg knows a decision was made and the emotions around it all are understandably quite difficult for him.

I meet with Adam and Theresa from The Whelan Group on Tuesday to further the "pitch piece" and map out next steps. I will also be in touch with a few of you who so generously offered to work through some of these immediate steps with me. I aim to meet with Greg and Maureen on Wednesday.

We have hard and quick work to do.
