Hi friends,

I'm a fundraiser. I ask people for money every day.

I also like beer. I don't drink beer everyday, but occasionally. I'm sure
most of you do as well. Or double vodka and sodas. Today, I'm asking you to
think about spending some of your beer money on something other than beer
this week.

Like, on sobriety.

You see, over 37 years ago, my grandfather, John J. Duffy, Esq. got sober.
His life was a mess and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the IRS and the
Pennsylvania Bar Association all said, pretty much on the same day, John,
get help. Or else. Plus, I think my grandmother, God love her, had
something to say as well.

Since that cold February morning all those years ago, my Grandfather has
helped literally thousands of people find clarity and quit the booze and
the drugs and the high life. Including 4 of my uncles, 2 of my cousins and
one of my aunts. He's a criminal defense attorney by day, so he also helps
a lot of other people get out of trouble with the law. Including all 5 of
my uncles, both my one Aunt and my mom, 4 cousins and my sister (that red
light was SOOOOO green!).

The place he cleaned up at, the Caron Treatment Center, has a big gala
every year in Philadelphia where they honor some lucky bastard with the
Dick Caron Award of Excellence. My grandfather will be receiving the award
this year. I forgot to mention, he was also the chairman of the board of
directors at Caron for a number of years in the 90s. You all know how these
things work. The person getting the award is usually a big shot with access
to a lot of rich people. My grandfather ain't that guy. His only friends
are drunks and criminals. Which is nice, because that's pretty much what
his family is too.

So. One of my sober uncles (Casey) and I have teamed up to raise a few
bucks thru Casey's charity for the dinner. The idea is to raise $30,000 to
fully fund one scholarship for a drunk to clean up at Caron (can you
believe it costs 30k to sober up???).

Can you spare a dime? Or the cash equivalent of a 6 pack of your favorite
micro-brew? Anything would be great. It will help someone get sober, and
likely keep you sober for one night. Or 30 minutes. Whatever you want.
