Tuesday’s elections yielded exciting victories for DAGA’s two incumbent
Attorneys General; reelection Jack Conway of Kentucky and Jim Hood of
Mississippi.

In Kentucky, Attorney General Jack Conway defeated Republican challenger
Todd P’Pool by receiving 55% of the vote to P’Pool’s 45%. General Conway
attributed his success to the Kentucky voters, and their desire to see him
continue the important work that his office has done over the past four
years. In his acceptance speech General Conway pledged to continue the
efforts of the last four years and focus on the work that is more important
to Kentuckians. General Conway referenced in his speech attempts by P’Pool
to make the campaign about fighting the federal government, including
P’Pool’s pledge to join the multi-state health care lawsuit and fighting
government over reach. General Conway praised the voters for recognizing the
importance of focusing on Kentucky saying: “we won this race because we
focused together on what it means to be the Attorney General of the
Commonwealth of Kentucky.”

Further south, Mississippi Attorney General Jim Hood cruised to reelection
last night garnering 61% of the vote in his race against hand-picked GOP
nominee Steve Simpson. General Hood was able to hold on to the one statewide
position held by Democrats last night in Mississippi after polling found
that he held significant fan bases amongst Democrats, Independents and
Republican voters. General Hood said last night that he believes he won
because the voters appreciated the work he has done while in office and want
him to continue protecting the people of Mississippi.

[6]Attorney General Hood wins re-election

Attorney General Jim Hood won convincingly Tuesday for a third term in
office.
“I’m honored the voters have chosen me again,” said the 49-year-old former
district attorney from north Mississippi, who defeated his Republican
challenger Steve Simpson, a 52-year-old former judge, prosecutor and public
safety commissioner from Gulfport whose family has long been involved in
politics.

prosecutor Linda Kelly inherited a tinderbox of criminal cases. First, there
were the myriad political-corruption investigations that have ensnared
Democrats and Republicans in the legislature. And, it turns out, there was
also an explosive probe unfolding into child-sex-abuse allegations at
Pennsylvania State University, one that resulted in charges this past
weekend against a former football coach and two other university officials.

[8]Newcastle hosts forum for high-profile state candidates

Candidates for the state’s top office met Newcastle residents and laid out
dueling plans for the future Oct. 22 during a forum at The Golf Club at
Newcastle. The candidates for governor, Republican Rob McKenna and Democrat
Jay Inslee, touted education reform as top priorities for the state more
than a year before voters choose a successor to outgoing Gov. Chris
Gregoire. State attorney general hopefuls Reagan Dunn, a Republican, and Bob
Ferguson, a Democrat, also participated in the Eastside Candidate Forum. The
candidates — both King County councilmen — said more should be done
statewide to protect consumers from fraud and foreclosure.

[9]W.Va. Attorney General Warns of Telemarketing Extortion Scam

Scam artists posing as Food and Drug Administration special agents have
recently targeted West Virginians who have purchased drugs online or over
the telephone, according to a news release from the state's Attorney General
Darrell McGraw. Using lists from previous purchase transactions, callers
will tell consumers that purchasing drugs over the Internet or telephone is
illegal and that a fine ranging from $100 to $250,000 must be paid.

[10]State AG warns of online scam
_Missouri News Horizon_ – November 2, 2011
Missourians are advised to avoid a new e-mail scam that is making the rounds
and concealing itself in the reputation of a reliable company. Attorney
General Chris Koster, who oversees consumer protection in Missouri, warned
residents Tuesday to be wary of any emails from “StubHub Orders” billing
them for thousands of dollars for tickets they did not purchase. He said
that anyone receiving such an e-mail should not click on the link provided
to view the order.
