Dear R., Last week, the do nothing Congress voted down an act that would have put thousands of teachers and first responders back to work, including 6,000 teachers in Maryland alone. Next week, they'll be given another opportunity to vote on our children's future and we need your help. President Obama has put forth a smart proposal to create hundreds of thousands of jobs by rebuilding America's crumbling roads, bridges and runways. And it's a plan that will make a difference for us in Maryland. But the Tea-Party Republicans are once again threatening to kill the bill so that they can protect tax cuts for the wealthiest 1% of Americans. We can stop them. Sign this petition and tell Congress that we want to pass President Obama's plan to create jobs and rebuild America's deteriorating infrastructure. To create jobs, a modern economy requires modern investments. But today while our global competitors like China invest 9% of their GDP in infrastructure, in the United States, we invest only 2%. President Obama's plan will reverse this trend. It will create jobs, rebuild America and give our children the better future they deserve. But we need your help. Will you join us and tell the Tea Party Republicans that we want jobs that rebuild America? Rebuilding America's infrastructure matters for job creation. It matters for our global competitiveness. And it matters for the type of country we leave to the next generation.
