Dear R.Hunter, Florida. Ohio. Wisconsin. Virginia. Four states critical to President Obama's re-election. Four Democratic Senate seats that, if we can't hold them in 2012, could give the GOP a majority. Four states where a coordinated Republican effort to change the voting rules and disenfranchise 5 million Americans could prove decisive on Election Day and disastrous for our country-unless we take action right now. Every day, I look at maps, polls, and other political indicators to read the political landscape. But right now, the number I'm looking at is $65,000 - that's how much we need to raise by midnight Sunday to keep our Election Protection Project going. If we can't fund this program, we can't fight to overturn the Republican voter suppression scheme or build a grassroots program big enough to overcome their tactics-so please click here and make a contribution of $5 or more to our Election Protection Project right now! https://dscc.org/give2?donate_page_KEY=12574&amount=x What might Election Day look like if we miss our goal and can't fund the Project? In Florida and Ohio, far-right Tea Party candidates could take advantage of new restrictions on early voting, blunting the impact of our field organizers in these critical states and taking two Democratic seats. In Wisconsin, new rules designed to suppress heavily Democratic voting blocs like students, low-income voters, and minorities could cost us this pivotal open seat. And in Virginia, the Republican voter suppression campaign is still in progress-if it succeeds, it could easily make the difference in this tight race and hand Republicans the fourth seat they need to take our majority. With 23 seats to defend, we simply can't afford to let the Republicans get away with this. Please click here right now to help us challenge these anti-democratic tactics head-on-and expand our turnout efforts to overcome them-by making a $5 contribution to our Election Protection Project. https://dscc.org/give2?donate_page_KEY=12574&amount=x I can see it in the data-a potential Election Day disaster brought about by the Republicans' political gamesmanship. But I can also see a way to fight back against these voter suppression tactics and win the tough races the way Democrats always have-with good old fashioned grassroots organizing. If we're going to keep the White House and the Senate, we simply can't let them get away with it. That's why I keep looking at this number: $65,000 by midnight Sunday. And that's why I hope you'll click here right now to make a $5 contribution to our Election Protection Project. https://dscc.org/give2?donate_page_KEY=12574&amount=x Thanks for helping the DSCC protect our democracy-and our Senate majority.
