Dear Friends,

As some of you have heard from me -- perhaps many times -- my brother Levi is running for Congress as a Democrat in Colorado’s 6th Congressional District. After Trump’s election in 2016 he felt compelled to act. Levi decided this was the most direct thing he personally could do to get America back on track.

Our family has lived the American dream. We want others to have that same opportunity. My grandparents, Tom and Annette Lantos, escaped the Nazi death camps and built a new life in America. Eventually, my grandpa built a life here first as a refugee, then a student, and eventually as the only Holocaust survivor to serve in the U.S. Congress where he served with distinction for almost 30-years. My grandma Nancy Dick drove to Colorado in 1956. She was widowed with three children, but eventually served as our first female Lt. Governor.

Levi's whole professional life has been dedicated to prioritizing people and progress over money and power. He rejected big corporate paychecks and instead worked to invent technologies and build companies to tackle climate change. He was appointed by President Obama to the U.S. Department of Energy where he and his colleagues helped entrepreneurs like Elon Musk build companies like Tesla. Levi has written books on how we can use smart policy to solve climate change and promote innovation. He speaks five languages (Spanish, Chinese, Japanese and Portuguese) which will help him reach out to immigrant communities in the most diverse district in Colorado.

Levi needs our help. In our democracy, campaigns run on contributions from concerned citizens who are committed to making our country a better place. I have contributed as much as I can to his campaign financially. What I have left to give him is a group of passionate, civically-minded friends and colleagues who I hope will be willing to pitch in. These funds are used to print literature for volunteers to distribute, pay his campaign staff, and get the word out about Levi's positive message for the future of our country. (I know some of you already have contributed. Thank you so much.) Levi has a hugely important filing deadline on March 30th. Please contribute before then if at all possible.
