You don't turn away because you can imagine yourself in the shoes of a refugee. You can imagine what it might feel like to be a parent in Syria worried that your child might be the next... the next to get sick, the next to go hungry, the next to die.

You can imagine these things because you don't just read the headlines; you listen to refugees tell their own stories. You take the time to see their humanity. It's why you're part of the CARE community.

As the world marks the seventh anniversary of the conflict in Syria, the people caught up in it have stories to tell. I hope you'll take a few minutes today to hear them speak and consider ways that you can help.

CARE's work in the region has helped provide lifesaving aid to refugees, so they can purchase emergency supplies (coats, blankets, heaters and fuel), receive vocational training so they can start or expand a business and get funds so parents can send children to school.

But even more than that, our work has helped give people hope -- hope that tomorrow might be better than today, hope that life can go back to normal someday. That hope is everything.
