We invite you to an evening celebration and fundraiser. We will recognize the important service provided by our Jesuit Volunteers in Washington, D.C., and internationally. Funds from the evening's event will be used to support JVs in D.C. and six international locations.

About Our Guest

Fr. Patrick J. Conroy, SJ, Chaplain for the U.S. House of Representatives

In May 2011, Fr. Patrick Conroy, SJ, was nominated as the 60th Chaplain to the U.S. House of Representatives by House Speaker John Boehner, in consultation with Nancy Pelosi, and was unanimously elected by the House.

As chaplain, Fr. Conroy opens proceedings with prayer, provides pastoral counseling to the House community, coordiantes the scheduling of guest chaplains, and arranges memorial services for the House and its staff.

Fr. Conroy was ordained in 1983. As a Jesuit, he advocated for Native Americans in the Pacific Northwest and served as chaplain at Georgetown and Seattle University.

JVC's Impact

In Washington, D.C. and Around the World

Washington, D.C., has 10 Jesuit Volunteers working for non-profits throughout the city. They serve at Jesuit Refugee Services, Campaign for Fair Sentencing of Youth, For the Love of Children, Miriam's Kitchen, Bread for the City, Joseph's House, and Samaritan Ministry of Greater Washington. Internationally, 57 JVs serve in six countries: Belize, Chile, Nicaragua, Micronesia, Peru, and Tanzania. They work in education, community social work, and pastoral ministry.
