Dear Members of the Board, As you know, one of our major initiatives focuses on actions that can be taken to address the humanitarian crisis. I am pleased to inform you that Ms. Kristalina Georgieva, who was appointed by the UN Secretary General to co-chair the UN's High Level Panel on the Humanitarian Crisis, will participate in our Board Meeting via video link from Europe for a brief discussion of the Report/recommendations of the High Level Panel. The High Level Panel recommendations are generally consistent with the recommendations developed by WFP USA and the core group of NGOs that have been working with us over the last months. The draft report from our core group is attached (please note that this is a rough draft that will undergo additional edits, so please do not distribute it). Also attached is the High Level Panel Report and Kristalina's bio. It is not necessary to review these materials before the meeting; I just wanted them to be available to you if you have time to read them. In addition, attached is the bio of Joe Stone, corporate vice president of Cargill. Joe is a prospective board nominee that is being considered by the Governance Committee.
