I Like It Like That Eye-catching things in CSIS's orbit Incredible photo [ https://twitter.com/markknoller/status/692847139773231104 ] of Marine One leaving the White House South Lawn taken by CBS legend Mark Knoller. Smiles I read the other day that French billionaire douard Carmignac talked Neil Young into playing a private gig at the Thatre Mogador in Paris. That really made me smile because Young has historically refused to do these type of things. Young is a multifaceted and complex artist. I’ve been fortunate to attend some stunning private shows in my life, but alas, not this one (I really need to meet douard Carmignac!) I have seen Neil Young play a very intimate show with his band Crazy Horse at Constitution Hall with my little sister in tow. We were in the front row and ended up making it into a photograph taken by Rolling Stone magazine. It was one of the best performances I will ever see. So is this one [ http://bit.ly/1ePOCSh ] . In 1971, the BBC captured Mr. Young playing solo and unveiling one of his then new songs, “Old Man.” You can hear a pin drop as he sings: “Love lost, such a cost, give me things that don't get lost. Like a coin that won't get tossed, rolling home to you.” Such a smile. Feedback I always welcome and benefit from your feedback. Please drop me a line at aschwartz@csis.org.
